Dr. Tariq Linjawi, M.D.

After obtaining FRCP “c” in the year of 1989 from the University British Columbia, Canada in the field of Diagnostic Radiology and a fellowship in interventional radiology, Dr. Linjawi joined King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh. For eleven years, Dr. Linjawi led the field of interventional radiology and grew in different administrative responsibilities. In the year of 2000, he was selected to start the new facility in Jeddah city.

Within couple of years, Dr. Linjawi took the lead position of transforming the Hospital in different phases of its growth from its start as a government hospital with almost zero capacity through public private partnership, then being totally dependent on its private revenue and lastly to its current status of governmental tertiary care referral hospital. During this growth period, the Hospital had grown to its current imminent status as the main tertiary referral hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia outside the capital Riyadh. Currently employed with more than three thousand staff and a budget of over one billion Saudi riyal. The Hospital had shown significant upgrades during this period with major renovation in the facility and acquisition of several state-of-the-art equipment.

In addition to his role in running the Hospital in Jeddah, in the year of 2011, the need of hospital expansion or new site became obvious to the hospital board. The start of exploring the hospital expansion with the government requires the knowledge of Dr. Linjawi and his participation in several governmental committees including the Ministry of Finance, Governmental Property section, and Ministry of Municipality to identify a new location for the Hospital through numerous meetings and communications. The current location of two million square meter and the new design of the facility had all been developed through participation and leadership of Dr. Linjawi. The current construction on the new site is budgeted for over five billion Saudi riyal for the construction. It is currently at 50% completion.

He has directed KFSH&RC (Gen. Org.)-Jeddah Branch to become an internationally competitive and recognized health care provider that meets the quality standards for patient care, organization management, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice as set by the Joint Commission International and the ANCC Magnet Program. Responsible for the provision of medical services, as well as manpower planning, financial, administrative and operational affairs of KFSH&RC (Gen. Org.)-Jeddah Branch along with overseeing the quality and function of medical education and research activities.

 Dr. Linjawi was a governing board member for King Faisal Specialist Hospital for two consecutive terms. He remains a current Board member of the western cluster in the Ministry of Health and Chairman of its Audit Committee.
