IFC Building Resilience Index

The Building Resilience Index App verifies the building information, associated hazards, and risk mitigation
strategies, and assigns a score to the building based on the hazard exposure and any residual risk.

Governments: lower cost of disasters, safer and more resilient buildings, improved resilient construction code implementation by private sector.

Financial institutions: lower investor’s risk exposure, higher accountability in development projects, more transparency in investment decisions.

Construction developers: differentiation in the marketplace, access to best practices for resilient construction, disclosure through a standardized system.

Property owners: lower operational disruption, lower insurance cost and potential damages to property, higher credibility with financiers.

Occupants: increased safety of the building to hazards, and ability to continue operations after the event.
