Protecting Health from Climate Change: Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment

This document published by the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization is designed to provide basic and flexible guidance on conducting a national or subnational assessment of current and future vulnerability to the health risks of climate change, and of policies and programmes that could increase resilience, taking into account the multiple determinants of climate-sensitive health outcomes.

The assessment outcome will provide information for decision-makers on the extent and magnitude of likely health risks attributable to climate change, and priority policies and programmes to prevent and reduce the severity of future impacts. The steps may be implemented in the order presented, or only selected steps may be undertaken to meet the needs of the population being considered.
